Sterling Pumps is pleased to announce that it has acquired United Pumps Pty Ltd, effective late June 2020.
United Pumps was founded in 1984 and is focused on developing and supplying a wide range of pumps for Australian and international specialized oil and gas projects, including API 610 rated centrifugal pumps and systems. Anton Merry, Managing Director of Sterling Pumps said the United Pumps acquisition is positive for our Company and the Group contributing an extensive product portfolio of reliable and high quality pumps for both the water and oil/gas segments. United Pumps brings us extensive technical and manufacturing capabilities, a large pump test facility and enhanced market knowledge.
The Company will continue to operate both production facilities in Pakenham and Sunshine, with each plant having comprehensive testing capabilities and industry leading people to allow United Pumps to continue to focus on the specialised oil and gas markets while Sterling Pumps continues its expansion into the water focused rural/irrigation, fire protection and mining markets.
Prior to United Pumps Australia (U.C.P. Australia) becoming independent in the mid 1980’s, their pump heritage can be traced back to 1886 via Oakland Iron Works, United Iron Works and United Pumps (UCP) USA with manufacturing licences and technology transfers from the 1950’s through to the 1970’s encompassing designs, drawings and patterns to manufacture the pumps of Harland Pumps, Johnson Pumps, Indeng and IEL pump models.
